You know,

I like to think of myself as a person that doesn't really get into horror movies. I mean sure, I get scared, and I get F'd by a jumpscare every now and then, but because its a horror film, I usually don't let myself get attached to the movie's characters because...you know, I'ts a horror movie.

Usually the minute I get introduced to a character in a horror flick, I'm almost immediately like "Welp, your probably gonna die soon. Nice knowing ya buddy."

but the babadook. BUT THE BABADOOK. OH MY GOD.

I had never been so creeped out so by a horror flick (except for MAYBE the first "Grave Encounters" movie.) but usually, I cant get into a horror genre unless its in a video game, but this particular movie managed to not only creep me the fuck out, but it also managed to make me feel genuinely concerned for ALL the characters of the film ('cept for the main character's beeoch of a sister and her brat daughter. >.>)

I don't know how they did it, but the makers of the film manged to make me switch emotions of a whim, like at first I hated the kid and I felt bad for the mom, and then the roles got reversed and I ended up being concerned for the kid and I was hoping that someone would punch the mom in the face!

Its rare when when a horror film is not only creepy as hell, but is also very smartly constructed.

The only real problem that I had with the film was the ending. It wasn't bad, mind you. But after all the tense situations of the film, seeing just the...bazaarness, of that ending had actually surprised me so much that I could help but make me laugh my but off. Seriously, I laughed like crazy.

But all in all, it was not a bad film. It was creative, it was creepy, and it lived up to all the hype that people gave it.

So if you are looking for an immersive horror flick, I highly recommend it.
